Work Boot Care That Actually Extends Life
A weekly, monthly and seasonal routine for boots that earn their keep.
Weekly: knock the mud off before it dries, pull the insoles out overnight, and rotate to a second pair so each gets 24 hours to dry through.
Monthly: clean the welt line with a stiff brush, check the stitching, and apply a conditioner suited to your leather — a heavy grease for oil-tanned work leather, a lighter cream for dress boots.
Seasonally: inspect the heel for uneven wear, which is an early warning of gait or fit problems, and get toe taps or a heel guard fitted before the wear reaches the midsole.
When to bring it to us instead
Home care handles maintenance. Structural problems — worn welts, split seams, collapsed heel counters, set-in stains — need a bench, tools and matched materials. If you are unsure which side of that line your pair falls on, send a photo or bring it by and we will tell you straight.
